Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh (English Composition)

Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh

Unemployment means being without a job. A huge population of us is in the situation.  So, it is a burning question for us.

According to the Government sources, we have 21 million unemployed people. They do not work even for an hour a day. However, experts do not agree with this estimate. Some say that nearly 40% of our labor force is unemployed. Whatever the truth may be, it is grim for us.

The effects of the situation are worrying in many ways. Unemployed youths resort to anti-social activities. They become hopeless about life. Then they take to drugs, become hooligans and even commit crimes like robbery or killing. Often they become professional cheats.

Unemployment has many reasons behind it. Firstly, our country is agricultural. But its population is huge for its land area. Secondly, education rate in our country is going up rapidly. The government and the private sectors are not able to provide employment to all. Thirdly, our education system does not provide proper vocational trainings. As a result, youths fail to get self-employed after taking education. Fourthly, due to social attitude our youths look for government jobs only. This leads them to unemployment. Finally, self-employment opportunities are not good enough for the youths. There is not enough security support for the interested ones.

Solutions for the problem are really hard. Our economy is still agro-based. So, agro-based industry should be given priority. The educated youths should change their minds about jobs and look for self-employment. Industries should be set up. Education should give vocational trainings.

We must look for ways to turn our vast population into a big manpower.
