Honesty (English Paragraph)

Honesty

Honesty is the crown of all the virtues. It is an essential quality of a good man. It keeps a man free from all the vices and evil deeds. It is essential for a pious man. It is important for anyone to be a good person too. Dishonest people are a thorn to the society. No one believes them. They are looked down upon everybody. They only do harm to others. Its importance for a good society is immense. A society can not be good for living if the members of the society are not honest. Absence of honesty affects the peace of a society largely. Similarly a state can not make progress if the officials are not honest. Corruption spoils the government efforts for development. Unfortunately, very few people in the society are honest now-a-days.

Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh (English Composition)

Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh

Unemployment means being without a job. A huge population of us is in the situation.  So, it is a burning question for us.

According to the Government sources, we have 21 million unemployed people. They do not work even for an hour a day. However, experts do not agree with this estimate. Some say that nearly 40% of our labor force is unemployed. Whatever the truth may be, it is grim for us.

The effects of the situation are worrying in many ways. Unemployed youths resort to anti-social activities. They become hopeless about life. Then they take to drugs, become hooligans and even commit crimes like robbery or killing. Often they become professional cheats.

Unemployment has many reasons behind it. Firstly, our country is agricultural. But its population is huge for its land area. Secondly, education rate in our country is going up rapidly. The government and the private sectors are not able to provide employment to all. Thirdly, our education system does not provide proper vocational trainings. As a result, youths fail to get self-employed after taking education. Fourthly, due to social attitude our youths look for government jobs only. This leads them to unemployment. Finally, self-employment opportunities are not good enough for the youths. There is not enough security support for the interested ones.

Solutions for the problem are really hard. Our economy is still agro-based. So, agro-based industry should be given priority. The educated youths should change their minds about jobs and look for self-employment. Industries should be set up. Education should give vocational trainings.

We must look for ways to turn our vast population into a big manpower.

Zainul Abedin, the Great Artist (English Paragraph)

Zainul Abedin, the Great Artist

Zainul Abedin was the avant-garde of modern art in Bangladesh. He was internationally acclaimed for his artistic style and visionary qualities. As an artist he was distinct in every respect. He made his own ink from charcoal and used cheap packing paper for sketching. A wide range of his works brought him fame and recognition. Of them, ‘Famine Sketches’ stand out as the most important. It is a series of sketches on the harsh famine of 1940. He drew sketches of famishing people who were victims of a manmade starvation. His scroll painting Manpura is another example of his humanistic approach to art. He drew this in memory of the hundreds of thousands of the dead souls in the devastating cyclone of 1970. In 1969, the art exhibition Nabanna came up with a 65 foot long scroll painting which contributed greatly to the then on-going movement against the Pakistani regime. Nabanna was a portrayal of the rural East Pakistan in phases from abundance to poverty. Besides adding fuel to the fire of the already heightened non-cooperation movement, this exhibition served as an artist’s protest against political and economic repression of a people. It also set a milestone for art in demanding cultural as well as political freedom. Thus Zainul Abedin championed the cause of patriotic humanism through his drawings and paintings. His patriotism becomes clear through his designing of the pages of the Constitution of the country. The maestro had shown his talent during his early age when he earned the Governor’s Gold Medal in all-India exhibition in 1938. That morning shows the day proved once again true when this great artist from Kishoregonj became our Shilpacharya, the master of art.
